{Color Me Pretty}

Accessorize yourself with...

Pops of Color

I know I probably sound like a broken record. Color, color and more color. Sure, I love neutrals. Yes, I have plenty of brown, grey and black clothing to go around a time or two. But this season, I've decided to stop my routine of wearing mostly brights during the spring and summer seasons and start adding them to my fall and winter wardrobe as well. For instance...

I decided to invest in a few new items for my closet, including colored jeans. Cobalt, teal, maroon, rose, mint...I wanted to have more of a variety when it comes to pants. It's already proving to be worth the investment. I love a good, dark pair of jeans...but for those days when I want to wear a neutral-colored, over-sized knit sweater or spice up an otherwise traditional 'winter' outfit, these definitely do the trick!

Sometimes, just one piece of brightly colored clothing is enough to make a bold statement. Another item of clothing I love in a great color is a coat. Over the years, my coat collection has grown...and I'm slowly working my way through my favorite colors.

My top-pick color is red. It adds such a pop to your look and compliments every skin tone. I also have grown fond of mustard yellow, burnt orange, bright purple and kelly green. I've got my eye on a certain color this winter, but may need to practice a little self-restraint and add it to my wish list for now.

For me, a perfect fall outfit is a chunky sweater, paired with colored jeans, a lot of gold accessories and a fabulous pair of boots! Or perhaps a little black dress with colored tights and an eye-catching overcoat. Or maybe even...well, the possibilities are endless!

{Factory Girl}

Today, I am loving...

Andy Warhol
by Nars

Pop Factor. Colorful. Fashion Statement. Vibrant.
As soon as I spotted this collection I knew I had to share it with all of you fab readers (unless you already know about it, in which case let's just pretend you are as giddy with joy as I am!!). Nars has a pop-art inspired collection currently selling in Sephora and a factory-inspired collection that will hit stores November 1st!

What kind of Warhol girl are you?
Pop Art or Factory?

I am and always will be a huge Andy Warhol fan. His work first inspired me back in the early days of college and even in the early days of this blog. If you ever find yourself in Pittsburgh, do yourself a favor and go visit his museum!

{Hungry For The Games To Begin}

Pamper yourself with...

Movie-Inspired Nails

I cannot tell you how excited I am to see the Hunger Games trilogy on the big screen. I was captured by the books, and I will probably be similar to a little kid on Christmas morning when I walk into the movie theater to watch the first film this weekend...

These days, I really don't go to the movies often...especially since I'm a Redbox/Netflix fanatic. However, I am totally fixated on this cast of characters. To spice it up even more, my passion for reading has interestingly enough coincided with my passion for nail polish. Throw in Lenny Kravitz and Liam Hemsworth and I don't even know what to do with myself! Le sigh. Alright, before I throw myself into a hot flash, let me show you what part of my excitement is all about:

Capital Colours by China Glaze

"Dress Me Up"

"Foie Gras"

"Fast Track"

"Hook and Line"

"Stone Cold"

"Smoke and Ashes"

"Agro"

"Mahogany Magic"

"Harvest Moon"

"Riveting"

"Electrify"

"Luxe and Lush"

Although I'm typically an OPI and Essie fan, some of these colors really hit the spot for the spring season. I really like the neutral and earthy tones for a day look and the metallic tones for an evening out on the town. However, the pop of fiery orange and glitter lacquers are my ultimate favorite. I'd say China Glaze created a collection that really captures the essence of the Hunger Games colour palette...though my only criticism is that I would have liked to have seen a bright gold polish in honor of Cinna. Either way, I'm hoping to tag along with my friend to Cosmoprof in order to snag some of these for half the price!

{Neon Lights}

Accessorize yourself with...

Neon Accents

It's been awhile since I've rambled about how wonderful it is to add a pop of color to your wardrobe, your living space, and most importantly: your life. Let's just call it having a "pop life." I'm currently enjoying neon accents and accessories, whether it be earrings, nail polish, a tote bag or painting. At the end of the day, neon makes a vibrant statement. It's really an attention whore, if you ask me, because no matter where you place neon, it gets noticed. Not only is it fun to add a bright color to any situation, it's a little daring...and I have a feeling my spring wardrobe will be showcasing some new neon statement pieces. Let's just say I'm finding my inner child more and more every day :)

{Show Some Leg}

Today, I am loving...

A Great Pair of Legs
(for Fall)

With the constant flux in temperature recently, I have been quite indecisive about my office attire. Even this morning I went back and forth about whether it would be warm enough to wear a dress, finally settling on pairing one with tights to keep from getting too chilly. Tights are one of those things; they are great to have but they are also a pain in my hineycheeks. You can't get too attached, because the simplest snag can ruin them for good. Which is why I try and pick up my favorite pair at the outlet mall for a cheaper price (because better quality means more $$). I love these tights from Calvin Klein because they are comfortable, move with me & don't dig into my hips:

Like tights, I also look for leggings that are comfy and don't squeeze me around the middle (and make me feel like a hippopotamus) for cooler days. Awhile ago, I found an adorable jersey knit sweater dress that literally makes me feel like I'm being hugged by a blanket...and paired with leggings it is a fabulous outfit! I've never been one to don leggings often, but I have a feeling that might will change. These ones from Ann Taylor Loft are already my favorite pair to date:

And For A Little Inspiration...
...Add A Pop Of Color!

{Birds of a Feather}

Ever heard the saying "I'm gonna wash that man right out of my hair?"
Well, why stop there?
Why not a wash, color, cut, blow-dry...
...and perhaps a few of these:

A little 70's spunk, a little earthy glamour and a little inner-child to make your hair pop.
Or just because you're feeling sassy...

The hair is the richest ornament of women”

{Detail Yourself}

It seems this summer is all about accessorizing; from bangles to hair wraps, I am totally digging the accentuation of a particular piece of jewelry or eyewear to make an outfit pop. Especially when traveling during the warmer months, it is quite efficient to stick to a small range of clothing (tank tops, skirts, maxi dresses) and make your outfits go the extra mile with a variety of accessories. I remember traveling Europe with a very limited wardrobe supply; what helped make those items of clothing not feel overused or appear the same in every photo wasn't just mixing and matching, but also adding lightweight scarves or jewelry accents. If you're looking to stick to a carry-on bag for your next trip or need a closet refresh, think about adding these simple accessories rather than more apparel:

 {Bangles}
Wear bangles (or a cuff bracelet) for a bit of shine
(Make yourself jingle with a little color)

{Belts}
Add a bright belt to a top or dress to mix it up
(Loose fitting & comfy is best)

{Scarves}
Don a head scarf to spice up your hair
(Who said scarves are only meant to be worn around your neck?)

{Watches}
Keep the time (and your style) with a classy wristwatch
(My favorite outlet find [so far] in 2011!)

{Rings}
Make a statement with an over-sized ring
(A glamorous ring can go a long way)

{Sunglasses}
Protect your eyes with a pair of glasses that compliment you
(Always a wardrobe staple)

{Nails}
Show off your nails with a vibrant color
(These lacquers are f-a-b-u-l-o-u-s)

Sometimes, it's all in the details...
